- Resident Engineer
MEI Engineering, Inc. has been working in the power industry for many years and one of the services we provide is that of the Resident Engineer. The Resident Engineer is ideally suited for an electric utility that doesn’t have the need for a full-time engineer. The utility and resident engineer can set up a schedule of in-house visits.
While on location at the utility, the Resident Engineer gains a better understanding of the utility’s electrical system. This helps in producing accurate, effective construction work plans. With the Resident Engineer on site, it is easier for the utility to ask questions of the engineer. The Resident Engineer helps in executing work plans, long range plans, sectionalizing studies and system design. The resident engineer helps to bridge the potential gap between management and operations.
The Resident Engineer can provide technical support and training to the utility personnel in areas ranging from distribution line design and construction, AMR, recloser controls, and computer applications. The utility sometimes doesn’t have the technical staff available to automate and streamline data record keeping. The Resident Engineer can help the utility to automate utility records (i.e. AMR, regulators, OCR’s, meters, transformers).
